The facts about Emulsifier 471 & Pringles. 1) Emulsifier 471 can come from vegetable or animal origin. Therefore, it is not automatically Haram for Muslim. Product owners shall be able to confirm the source of E471 in their products for you. (please refer Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura official website http://www.muis.gov.sg/services/halal-8c.html. for further reference on this fact) 2) P&G can confirm that the Emulsifier 471 used in all Pringles variants is purely from Vegetable source. It is made from a mixture of Palm Oil, Rapeseed Oil and Sunflower Oil.
