Kita boleh tengok dengan mata kepala, siapakah yang kuat menyokong umno sekarang dan siapa yang bersama2 umno menghentam Islam - pertubuhan2 dan individu kapir. Sehidup semati benar nampaknya mereka2 ni... Nak kenal seseorang tu, tengok sapa kawan karib sahabat akrab dia... ------------ Saturday, August 18, 2001 Two members of another militant group arrested KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested two members of a missionary group called Jemaah Tabligh Malaysia (JTM), one of them a former engineer with the army camp in Lok Kawi, Sabah, under the Internal Security Act for buying and supplying firearms to Muslims in Ambon, Indonesia. The arms were meant to be used to fight the Christians in a jihad (holy war) in the Maluku islands. The engineer, it is learnt, had met with suspected bomber Taufik Abdul Halim while the latter was in Ambon. JTM is an unregistered religious organisation with about 15,000 members but has no history of violence. It was set up in Penang in the early 1960s with its headquarters in India and Pakistan. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Norian Mai identified the two, who were arrested on July 26, as Mohd Rashid Ismail, 35, of Sungai Siput, Perak, and Jaafar Karamah, 42, a gold dealer from Tawau, Sabah. "They were arrested by Tawau marine police following the seizure of a cache of firearms including two M-16 assault rifles, six pistols and a substantial amount of ammunition including 60 rounds for the M-16. "Investigations found that the weapons were bought from Pulau Setangkai in the southern Philippines and were headed for the Muslim fighters in Ambon in the name of jihad," he told a press conference yesterday. Norian said the police team also arrested 13 Indonesians the same day and all of them were being detained for questioning. It is learnt that one of the 13, from central Java, is believed to be a member of the Jemaah Tabligh Indonesia and was the broker for the purchase of the weapons. The IGP said police believed that Indonesians here and in Indonesia with Malaysian links were buying the firearms from the southern Philippines. "The so-called jihad in Ambon seems to be attracting quite a lot of people from here and has been going on for sometime. "We are worried about the ease with which such weapons are obtained from our neighbour. This is a serious threat and is widespread," Norian said, adding that two Indonesian intelligence officers were due here on Aug 20 to question the Indonesians. To a question, Norian confirmed that the KMM members included Nik Adli, the son of Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat, and that Nik Adli had links with Taufik. He also stressed that the police were not abusing the ISA by placing KMM members under detention. He said the police stand was consistent with that of the government's--to charge those involved when they had enough evidence. "It is not true that we are using the ISA as an easy way out. This is a national security threat matter and we have to take necessary steps," Norian said. He said that since the KMM's activities were exposed, police had arrested 16 people. He said several of them had been released while three had been charged after police had gathered enough evidence. -- _______________________________________________ Talk More, Pay Less with Net2Phone Direct(R), up to 1500 minutes free! http://www.net2phone.com/cgi-bin/link.cgi?143 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ( Melanggan ?
