US Military planners have shifted from their original plan of focusing their efforts to take Baghdad quickly to now concentrating on defeating the fedayeen and other militias serving Saddam Hussein in the south before the battle of Baghdad begins. The original strategy had been to bypass Iraq's southern cities and drive toward the capital to take on the Republican Guard and overthrow Saddam. Resistance from the militia groups to the rear of the advancing allies has been so stiff that commanders have concluded that this threat has to be addressed first. The attack on the Republican Guard will be delayed while American and British forces fight in and around Iraq's southern cities. Considering the US has a mere 120,000 troops on the ground, a number substanially less than their opponents who have an estimate 350,000 troops dug in around Baghdad, the ground war is poised to be a bloody battle. Wednesday morning, intelligence agencies reported that Saddam Hussein's Elite Guard have wired all bridges coming into the city with remote-controlled explosive devices. At press time, Iraqi TV is also back on the air. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ( Melanggan ? To : [EMAIL PROTECTED] pada body : SUBSCRIBE HIZB) ( Berhenti ?
