Yep, that fixes it - thanks!

I had found release notes for an Oct 26 2007 update to the release 
version of the steam client that stated "Fixed applications failing to 
start because mss32_s.dll was not found", but not the Steam Beta release 
notes.Especially not yesterdays release notes :P
