 OK then.

I did some more checking and ran ResGen on cs_office to verify what you are
saying. You are correct on this one. On the stock maps the overview info is
not included. Frankly this isn't a big problem for us since we have a 1.6
server and the stock maps it would seem would almost always be on the client
s machine. This wasn't always the case with 1.5. It has included the info on
all of the "Non-Stock" maps I have installed on the server that have
overviews which is good.

So we agree, ResGen may not include all of the needed info on occasions due
to the information included in the .bsp file. Therefore it is wise to check
your .res files to verify that they contain all needed info for the map in
question.

I think we can also agree that ResGen is a good tool for creating thorough
res files with some exceptions. A little discretion from a servers admins
and operators can mange these exceptions. I always test any new maps before
and after adding them to my server. This includes downloading to client
machines.

I also hope that you would agree that sv_downloadurl is a phenomenal asset
for servers wanting to run custom content and also keep players on there
server providing that good .res files are included on the server. This
coupled with a good map vote system keeps our server hopping most of the
time.

I used 1.x and use 2.0 now. If resgen is getting the overview info then
it's called out in the .bsp file. Thats the only way it could possibly
know about it. Most (all the maps I run) don't have this info called
out. For kicks I just ran resgen on cs_office_cz which is a stock CZ
map. There was no overview files called out. Do a ripent on your map.
I bet the overviews are called out in there.

So to rephrase, resgen will *probably not* have the overview in there
unless the map was made to include that the overview exists.
