I was in ook's boat too. I played oz deathmatch for a very long time, which, as most of you know, is very fast paced.
When source came out, I still couldn't stand waiting to respawn, so a laptop next to my gaming pc helped a lot. Then as I got more into the game, I started to spectate after I was killed instead of switching to the other computer to do other things. Now I can appreciate the round-based aspect of the game and I could probably make do without the extra computer. Judging from previous posts to this thread, I would say that ook is equally, if not more, resistant to change than I am. I would suggest an extra monitor or another computer alongside the gaming rig to help transition to round-based play. In deathmatch you die and respawn ... No consequences at all. Nothing to loose or risk. In CS the excitement is much higher because it is like real life. There is risk. You could die and have to wait an entire round to play again. I love watching the round finish when I am dead. It is quite fascinating. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Ook Sent: Saturday, November 13, 2004 4:31 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [OT] Re: [hlds] HDL2 OK, so just so I can say I did, I played CS:S today. I spawn. I'm dead, waiting for the round to end so I can play. I go get a sandwich. Round isn't over yet. I go pee. Round isn't over yet. I sit there with thumb up butt, bored out of my goard thinking that I could be playing DeathMatch instead of waiting for the round to end. Round ends! I spawn! I stand there wondering wtf to do, and someone shoots. me. I'm dead. I have to wait until the end of the round. Again. So I wait...and wait...and wait....I go to Taco Bell and get some food. Round still not over. And people pay money so they can do this????? Have I mentioned lately that Counter-Shite blows chunks? </extremely biased sarcasm> ----- Original Message ----- From: "spartibus" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, November 11, 2004 10:01 PM Subject: RE: [hlds] HDL2 > If you don't like CS 1.6, you guys should give CS:S a shot, since it's > almost nothing like it. _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds
