I think the thing that bothers me the most about the ending is the
explosion.
If after the portals destruction Alex jumped for joy as she did and then
Gordon had a strange glow and Alex noticed and said "Gordon ... What's the
matter?"

Then the G-man slowed time and sucked Gordon out of there with no explosion
... this would have been a better cliff hanger.

I don't see how Valve will deal with the explosion.

The Administrator said to Gordon that he would release forces that could
destroy the Earth.

My guess is that HL3 will be the same intro As HL2 where the G-Man wakes
Gordon up for a new adventure and Valve will have the earth destroyed.
They're going to have killed Alex off.

The other thing that annoys me is that the G-man will continue to be this
plot device ... A shallow character who just wakes up Gordon and freezes
him at the end.
In between we will see the G-man walk a map or two here and there.
It makes no sense to me.

When time restarted last time, Gordon wasn't outside the old Black Mesa tram
where he went into the portal, he was somewhere else. This is more of a
suggestion that time slowed to a halt for those two individuals only, and
the rest of the people were fine. So technically, Alyx could have had the
G-Man talking to her as well, in the next split-second of time.
