The website is wrong. Whoever wrote that information was just plagiarizing what they found somewhere else. You do NOT need to open 27030-27039 (TCP). If you do, nothing will use them because those are ports on Steams end, not your end. Opening these accomplishes nothing.
You do NOT need to open 27000-27015 (UDP). Just open the port you want your server on. You optionally need the steam friends port, but I don't remember if that is 1200 (UDP) or not. Nor do I remember if port 1200 is a port on the server or a port on Steam. I do know that you do not need port 1200 to get your server working. You know what is really funny, one of the routers out there, Westell I think, or maybe Netgear, has a pre-defined Half-Life server port forward setting, but it uses port 27015 TCP, not UDP. It's hilarious that they actually include that as a preset port forwarding, when it's obvious they never actually tested it. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Edson Sossai" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <hlds@list.valvesoftware.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 04, 2005 12:50 PM Subject: Re: [hlds] Port changed when server starts > Well i just followed what the D-Link support page said to do in order to get CS working behind the rounter. > You can check it here -> http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=1406#604 > Maybe i don't really need all those. > > -----Original Message----- > From: m0gely <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Jan 4, 2005 8:58 AM > To: hlds@list.valvesoftware.com > Subject: Re: [hlds] Port changed when server starts > > Edson Sossai wrote: > > > No. That wasn't me. > > My router is a D-link DI-614+ with the following ports forwarded: > > 1200 (UDP) > > 27000-27015 (UDP) > > 27030-27039 (TCP) > > You only need the port forwarded the game runs on. ex: 27015 UDP. > Unless you're filtering outbound ports as well. > > -- > - m0gely > http://quake2.telestream.com/ > Q2 | Q3A | Counter-strike > > _______________________________________________ > To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: > http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds > > > _______________________________________________ > To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: > http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds > _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds
