I think you're right on the sys_tickrate.

I know that the + can be exec'd in game or at console and that - is console
only. I do have sys_ticrate defined in server.cfg in another section. I
think I had the - because of our source servers.

I've downloaded the , srcdsfpsboost.zip but that doesn't seem to do the
trick. I'm still maxed at 64 w/ that or 85 w/ WMP.

So I've been banging my head against the KB for some time now. I've tried
both WMP and srcdsbooster and I'm still unable to get more than 85 FPS
server side. Any idea why this would happen?

We have two larger windows configs and they both behave the same. One is
an
Opteron 242 and the other is a dual xeon 2.4. Other than the procs, the
HW
specs are the same. Here are my specs:
dual xeon 2.4 Ghz, 2 GB RAM, 80 GB 10K RPM HDD.

Two servers (HLDS_W DOD)
1 x 32 (Bound to proc 3, physical proc 2)
1 x 24 (Bound to proc 0, physical proc 1)

Both servers are started w/ the following cmd line options:
-console -heapsize 262144 -game dod +ip <server IP> +port 27015
+maxplayers
<maxplayer> +exec server.cfg -dll addons\metamod\dlls\metamod.dll +map
<map
name> -pingboost 3 -sys_tickrate 66

Is heapsize a valid command line option for the server? I always thought
that it was.

Is pingboost 3 still a valid option for windows servers?

Both servers use the following server.cfg settings.
//-----------------------------------------------
//            Server Performance (Base)

The srcds booster can be found in the "how to get the most out of my
HLDS/SRCDS" topic, in the steam support area, in the form of a link to
download.

Instead of wasting time with extra memory from IE and Flash, try finding
that srcdsfpsboost.zip file. It is a program that only calls the
appropriate Win32 timer functions to set the time resolution. (ie the
same thing WMP and Flash do)

cool can you send the flash anim you use please whisper? coz then i can
get my host to run it and improve both my server and my client :D

Yes

does it work with the client too ;)???

It works for both HLDS & SRCDS as its ia and OS level effect not

application

level.

Well since the poster wrote he was using media player, I just
assumed

he

was talking about running an HL1 mod of some sort. im not even
sure

if

that works for srcds or not. But if it does then running media
player
would
take up more CPU then just running a SWF file minimized.
when i use it, it boost's my FPS on my win2k server to 500.

i'm interested in how the hell running a swf file in IE can boost
the
fps of a srcds server. Surely running a flash anim would slow it
down.
Or is there a special trick this ageing noob dosn't know about.

That's for srcds not regular HLDS. :)

sv_maxrate is not enough for a 100 tickrate server
sv_maxupdaterate of 40 is lower than the CS:SRCDS default of 60 and

would

nullify the benefit of running at 100 tickrate
Setting the sv_minupdaterate to anything atm seems to cause strange

issues

for lots of people if the fps drops even for a millisecond

It's been my experience that win2k is the better win OS to run a

server

on.

Im running almost the exact server setup except there HL1
mods. one

32

slot dod1.3 one 13 slot match and one 20 slot HLTV.

Sv_maxrate 12000
Sv_minupdaterate 20
Sv_maxupdaterate 40 I swear by these rate settings. i
have
tested
many settings over the last 3 years that i have run server HL1

servers.

And ill never run any other settings.
i do however run fedora core 4. which i cannot recommend highly

enough.

nor

does restarting the whole box

its Win Xp Pro, SP2 latest updates, latest install of SCRDS, and

What is the CPU Usage like when these are running full? And the
100

Tick

Rate could be something to do with it.
