hell if the steam forums mod 9and what a bunch of morons they are) think
it's cool to remove post from the most informative SRCDS man on the
planet then they can ALL GET FUCKED. Whisper should be consulting valve
on their shitty half ass programmed game. to tell them how to program
and make an online games. TBH i think this is a disgrace and this could
be the final straw in the cap for me as far a valve is concerned. I have
watched valve decend from great hights to become what is no better than
microsoft for gamers. Everyone associated with valve should be ashamed
and disgusted at what has been done under their name.

You make think that this is melodramtic, i disagree, because at the end
of the day we are all customer's, server admin or player, WE ARE STILL
VALVES CUSTOMERS. i have a retail background and if i had a track record
similar to valve i would lose my job.

FYI i am now considering with drawing support for all valve game
permantly. in protest at the disgraceful way vlave deals with it's
customers, and fore most, the ppl that run it's gaming network for it.

Since I could not be 100% sure which STEAM Forum moderator locked the
perfectly legitmate thread, I'm afraid you all get tarred with the same
brush, even if you did not agree with the actions of the moderator in
question.

Hell, the existance of the thread explained to a great deal of people, which
many of them thanked me for in the thread, for explaining to them something
were not aware of, and more importantly, an issue 95% of the respondants
thought was a very serious issue in a FIRST PERSON SHOOTING game.

This is the issue I raised in the forums with proof below so those of you
will know what the hell it is I am talking about:

The original version of this thread had not degenerated into spam.

Many people were not aware of the issue and the thread served an important
purpose of informing those people of what the issue was.

Funnily enough, when it was clearly demonstrated to them what the issue
was, most of them wanted the issue fixed.

The only purpose served by locking the orginal version of the thread, was
to save Valve from the embarrasment of having a BUG that may be
difficult from Valve's Point Of View to fix!

Locking threads is not going to make this issue go away, no matter how
much some of you wish it would, or are you all just happy to bury your

heads

in the sand and keep locking threads on this issue in the hopes people

will

just forget about it?

Well the previous [url=

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=395733]TheO
fficial Crouched Point of View Change Petition Thread was locked with

no explanation or official announcement whatsoever, although funnily

enough

it was fairly soon after it was clearly demonstrated that there was 400
votes FOR and 5 Votes AGAINST and a 95% to 5% ratio of
YES to NOVotes which ultimately proved that it almost
everybody but Valve consider this a fairly serious issue.

But here it is again.

If the other thread was locked in error, please unlock it and lock this
one.

If there is an official announcement to be made on the issue, please make
it.

Please do not lock threads for no apparent reason.

Thank You

Please Vote in the thread by replying with a post stating Yes or No and
the reason why you feel the change should or should not be made to:

would be

DON'T JUST VIEW THE THREAD, CLICK REPLY AND THEN TYPE YOUR ANSWER
YES or NO

Make sure you give some reason why you agree or disagree why the crouched
POV should be changed, lest some moderators decide to lock the thread

again,

because apparently you are not allowed to provide one word responses to a
tightly defined problem.

More Information:

I think that there is hardly a Counter-Strike:Source player who thinks the
current crouched Point of View (POV) is fair or even correct.

If you do think it is fair and correct, then I feel you would be in the
minority.

For those of you who are not familiar with the problem, it can be
explained like this:

When you are standing, your POV is as if you are looking out through the
model at the same level your eyes would be on the model.

When you are crouched, your POV is as if you are looking out through the
model at the same level your CROTCH would be on the model.

See attached pictures if you need visual aids to understand the problem.

Standing player

Crouched player

These 2 Avi File links provided by UnknownFactor demonstrate the
ridiculousness of the situation

http://www.snipers-alley.com/pov1.avi 1.33MB

As well as these 2 Screenshot links provided by Que

This is neither fair nor equitable as standing players will have a clear
view of crouching players, but the crouching players have no view of

players

who can clearly see them.

Quite often this leads to players being shot when they think they are
under cover, when in fact, they are not.

The reason this petition is being created, is simply that it has been
stated by several sources within Valve that they are not looking at the
crouched POV issue whatsoever, and do not even consider it a problem or a
bug, and in fact consider it a deliberate design feature.

Obviously I disagree with them, and I think a significant majority of
other Counter-Strike:Source players of both public and competitive playing
persuasions (you know there is a big problem when you can get both these
groups to agree on anything) will agree with me.

Also I have heard the argument made from Valve, is that the movement while
crouched looks very bad in first person if you shift the POV to eye level.

I

would counter that statement by simply saying that most people do not

spend

an inordinate amount of time moving around the map whilst crouched,
AND even if it does have some display issues, these are outweighed

by

the benefit of being able to clearly see how you are positioned in

relation

to your surroundings and being able to see other players when they can see
you.

http://img3.imageshack.us/my.php?image=naamloos8yz.jpg

If Valve would care to comment on why they are not willing to change the
crouched POV, we all would certainly like to hear the rationale with some
specific examples.

So the only way to make Valve aware that we consider this to be a major
issue that should be revised considerably and changed, since the
overwhelming majority of Counter-Strike:Source players think there is a
problem, and what is more, agree on what the solution is, is to get as

many

YES votes in this thread as possible.

If we get thousands of replies all saying YES the crouched POV
should be changed, then perhaps Valve will take what we have to say
seriously, and not disregard our feelings on this issue.

I know there are other issues that demand Valves attention, but most of
them are bugs that will in fact be fixed sooner or later, but this issue
will never be fixed as Valve do not agree with us that there is any

problem.

Tell all your friends, tell all the Counter-Strike News Sites about this
thread, post in all the game forums outide of here to get as many votes as
possible.

Vote YES in this thread if you want the Crouched POV changed to the
Eye Height of the Model.

Cheers

FYG Munra I have put
http://whisper.ausgamers.com/wiki/index.php/Tickrateback since
obviously my presence has been missed by somebody.

The STEAM Forums Moderators are on their own though.

The STEAM Forum moderators seemed to have no problem locking other
perfectly
legitamate threads I created, claiming they were just spam threads, so I
removed my support for the STEAM Forums.

I was also informed my contributions would not be missed.

Oh well.
