Someone on Reddit claims that anyone can download and play the beta using these steps. Thanks! 1. steam://validate/260 - and wait for Steam to fully download the GCF.
2. Use GCF Scape to extract the cstrike_beta folder to the SourceMods folder (located in the SteamApps folder) 3. In the cstrike_beta folder, open GameInfo.txt Change the SteamAppID from 260 to 440 (Requires TF2!) Find the steam.inf file, rename it steam_.inf Restart Steam. Right click the new game in your Steam Library... click properties.
