So, when listing games to users, we list CS:S along side HL2, UT2004, Doom3,
etc...?

Our questions go beyond just launching the game. It's a matter of what
heirarchy or relationships exist with them? Can this be obtained by Steam?
In the past, we all had to maintain this seperately, but it seems more
efficiently and best if it came from Steam, since it already knows. Kind of
like a requirements list of sorts.

Just revisited the steam game browser, and maybe it's a better illustration.
Right now, it's looking pretty messy in there. I see games and MODs all
mixed together between HL2 and HL1 on the "Individual Games" tab. Then, I
switch over to "Third-Party Games" and I see a mix of HL1 MODs and I'm sure
HL2 MODs will be coming as soon as they're released. There's no telling
just what requirements or even what game engine they're using.

I had thought that Valve's design with Steam is for it to be used as a game
distribution system for not only Valve's games, but other game developers as
well. As these other games start becoming available, or even when the HL2
MODs are added to the listing, that list is going to grow and look even more
confusing to users. It's very un-organized.

So, do you have any plans to address this with a better designed and
organized way? I would imagine that how they're listed in steam, how
they're presented to the public, and how 3rd party sites and programs would
list the games and MODs would all be more consistent. This should really
come from you guys, not us application developers.

Does this make sense now?
