Hey there, I'm not a member at dslr, so I thought I'd reply directly. I can't offer input on their WorldCom offerings, but I have had the 1.5/128 basic here in Cali for 4 months and love it (before that, I had 604/128 for over 2 years with them while I was in DC). As the other reply said, their phone support has been wonderful and very fast in solving what few problems pop up. They take care to inform you of any maintanence issues which might interrupt your service (for instance, I got an e-mail two days ago about an expected outage for POP maintenance this Wednesday, 11pm - 3am PST). I've had only a few minor problems with them in this time. Back in DC, my original 604/128 plan gave me two static IPs, shell, dial-up and web space at $50-something a month. About a year and a half into it, they changed the deal and tried charging me for the IPs, shell and dial-up. I raised a stink because there was no warning about any of it, and managed to get my original plan restored. Moving here was a little bit of a headache too, much of it due to the problems with sales people like the other poster said (I was contacted by 3 different salepeople all offering me the same thing.. None of them knew another was working with me). But, I stuck with the original sales person and pestered him on the phone and got it straightened out. Finally, when I was ready for the self-install kit to come, Covad sent me (get this), an empty box with a post card in it saying here's your self install kit, Welcome! The SE folks were great in responding though, and were going to overnight a new kit if my old hardware didn't work (I still had the SpeedStream from DC). Very rarely in DC (2-3 times in 2 years maybe), I had some latency issues or an outage. A call to support and a power cycle of the modem usually corrected it. So, overall, I'm very happy with it. I love the fact that I have the freedom to whatever the hell I want on my line (they *encourage* you to run servers, for chrissakes), and I love all the support available. They're continually improving service with POPs, new mail servers and such, so if you got the basic on Covad, I imagine there'd be a POP in your area in the not too distant future. Phew, that was a lot. Hopefully it's helpful. -- Tim _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
