There are indeed keygens that do generate valid keys for Half-life alone. You can find them at many of the miscellaneous "crackz" sites or whatever. However, WON authentication doesn't usually work with them. You just have to try a whole bunch.

I 'have' seen ones which create a key, then try auth with it against won, and keep repeating this process untill such time as it finds valid keys. I have heard of user getting dozens of keys this way (How true something said on OGC forums i dont know, but it cant be ignored because of the source)
Im sure after time these attempts get blocked, but it makes one wonder, how many real keys have been discovered during this time.
