Count me in too

I too would be willing to pay a nominal fee for the guarantee of VAC being
updated regularly and a cheater free server.

I would pay ~1$ per month (ok, I'm german, I would pay 1 euro! :D)
if there is a garantee that valve is updating VAC daily! It should not
be possible to get a running cheat for longer than xx hours.

Maybe they invent the cheater-free dedicated server with a small
license of ~2-5$ a month. I would pay for.

But in future I will not buy a game without cheatprotection! Punkbuster
is going the right way with guid and hardware id ;) (with the hardware ID
ban valve will no longer gain extra cash from cheaters ^^)

heh, it's not like they need to buy anything to get a new steamid :|

VALVe have done a fair bit for us, at least they haven't turned into a
MMORPG style forced pay-per-month after you buy the game initially
(whoever came up with that idea was mentally dull - I mean, what if you
don't -want- the 'free' expansion packs that come with them :p).

Yar, so anyway, they don't have anything to gain by keeping VAC updated
other then a bit of respect atm, since the vac disabler + non-steam
pretty much put the idea of paying money for a new key after cheating
out of the situation.

Valve gained a lot of money in selling CZ. More money they gained after

they published

that CS:S beta will only be able to CZ users... (and more bought CZ).

Valve still has a responsibility to the community. For me I can say, that

CS:S is not

my multiplayer future. Just in time I'm playing more and more bfv and et

;)

We've currently changed our 3 public servers from VAC to CD (optional w/

mediator)

meh, the problem is that stupid vac disabler which makes VAC useless.
If that were eliminated it'd probably be a whole lot more useful - at
the moment enabling VAC on your servers is the same as not when it comes
to an "informed" cheater.

They don't gain money out of keeping up anti-cheat protection on a seven
year old game though :/

LOL, gotta love the mentally retarded trolls. That sentence held zero
content of useful information.

But that is the problem, it is not updated as frequently as the
alternative 3rd party software. We have had VAC for a couple of years
now and it has had only one period of maybe 2 months where it was
updated on a regular basis. From past experience, there is nothing to
show that this is going to change any time soon.
