I had this issue as well. it was a temporary glitch as my firewall was
not hte issue. Make sure your firewlal has hte right ports open.

Hi all.
I have now tried the last 2-3 days to start my HLDM running on Linux
server,
but keep getting this error.
Could not establish connection to Steam servers.
VAC secure mode disabled.
What is going on here.... Has Valve changed their VAC serveres
(ipaddress)
or the port number, because I think it's my firewall who is blocking for
it.
Somebody know what the hell is going on???
