I never said anything about random ports, I said "random" software. If some random software steals a port I need for something else THAT SOMETHING ELSE doesnt work any more... Being down to the last (masterserver) uncontrollable port the issue isnt that great any more. And yes, I could do some more workaround on my non-linux-based firewall.
VAC servers, at least, are really crappy when it comes to replying to VAC requests which will both deny the server secure mode, until the missing response has arrived and it can and is causing spikelags on the servers, which I would like to control better/eliminate. Though the VAC comm. isnt being done over the masterserver port. Writing such a script would be a waste of time, if there is a cmdline option to control it, which is also a lot less ugly.
