I've been hosting several servers for years now on my aging Red Hat 9 server. I use to have metamod and adminmod plugins which allowed add-ons for sounds and weapons mods. I don't know when but the add-ons no longer work, the customizations of the maps and sounds are gone.
I tried downloading the linux server for half-life again but end up with the same no sound, no mods.
