The GCF files contain the hl1 and hl1mp directories, but alas there are
only windows DLL files there - no server.so. Without that you are dead
in the water. Looks like Valve never built these files, at least if they
did I have no clue where they can be found. If you try to start the
server without them, it will immediately segfault.
You might be able to run the Windows version via wine. I did that with
OP4 for a while because at the time I was using older hardware, and hlds
linux is a bit of a pig on slow hardware. It was much faster running the
windows version under linux using wine.

It's not included with the update tool. Instead you need to extract the
files from the gcfs.
