I got hit by the same thing, symbolic link of old new to new .so file worked to bring 1 of my (CentOS) servers up - but sans mods of course. No "official" word from Valve yet on at least acknowledging the issue? Just catching up on today's/last-night's thread, but I didn't see any Valve responses in there. Maybe I missed it. :-)
