OK, so what you want is (for educational purposes of the book) a simple
script that tracks installation and creates listing of file attributes
and checksums. Then you want checking utility, that just compares
expected system state to real state and prints differences. And finally
add optional support for openssl's RSA to make sure nothing can alter
records?
LPM is just a way how to track all installed files with option to alter
them before really commiting to system, which gives you more control
over installation.
I'll go write logger + that openssl stuff.
