From an early look, it looks like the glibc-2.6.1 is a botched release, reminding me of 2.3.3.
The configparms file doesn't work with 'build-programs=no', and --enable-omitfp adds extra test suite errors which are unusual (--enable-omitfp normally does not add test suite errors). I'm more comfortable with glibc-2.5.x for the moment. Maybe a glibc-2.6.2 will come out with the fixes. When a Glibc release doesn't pass tests under ideal conditions it's a good sign to stay away from it. robert
