The 2.6.24.2 test patch has no issues with me to date.
Linux 2.6.24.2 is miles ahead of 2.6.19.7.
additionally:
IPtables 1.40 is fine too
so is ssh-4.7
both of these packages are essential items.
For security sake they should be in the build.
