To select faces from the same brush just use shift and/or ctrl. If I want to choose all faces except one, I select that one and I click another time holding ctrl+shift. Its also useful for big brushes or faces that are difficult to see with the camera. To rotate the camera, as I said, I use the arrow keys and to move forward/backwards I just use the mouse wheel. Its fast, easy and useful. If you whant to pan the view you can hold shift shile pressing the arrow keys. Pressing the z key is fastest thought.
