I too am an old-school mapper. When I recently started remaking some of my old 1.6 maps into source, I found the lack of the old camera/texture method perplexing. If you are used to the old way, it makes the new method unusual.
However, a friend showed me the solution. When in the texturing application, instead of hitting the camera tool, click Z. The Z button will allow you to suddenly be in a camera mode. Simply click z again to get out of mouse/camera mode. PS. No need to flame someone for making an observation/comment. This email list is designed to help people and to encourage collaboration. Any time you attack someone for asking an honest question, you lessen the value of a group project. www.shawnolson.net -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, March 10, 2009 3:00 PM To: [email protected] Subject: hlmappers Digest, Vol 13, Issue 5 Send hlmappers mailing list submissions to [email protected] To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlmappers or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to [email protected] You can reach the person managing the list at [email protected] When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of hlmappers digest..." And about my perception of time - it's working perfectly. It is the method I became used to and remember, and the amount of control, to me at least, feels as far apart as a mouse fps and an Xbox controller. Go look at hammer 3.4 if you are curious about it. (Yes I am old school and just getting back into mapping) I'm not sure why this has been changed but I'll deal. _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlmappers
