FYI, I never did figure out what the problem was with this, but after noticing several other little quirks (some routes were incorrect for instance), I decided to start again. I moved the directory, then re- ran hobo and copied my existing models over. It's working now, so clearly something went wrong with the generators (though very possibly caused by user error) the first time I built the app.
