This was a genuine bug. I just pushed a fix in commit f8fe9e3
Note that the correct code is:
> def index
> hobo_index :per_page => 10 do |wants|
> wants.xml { render :xml => @categories.to_xml }
> wants.html { }
> end
> end
That is, @categories is already populated by hobo_index
