I'm a performance junkie, ten seconds would have me slitting my wrists. I see about one to three sec, and three sec is outside my comfort zone.
My setup: -New MacBook pro, i7 mobile 7200rpm disk, (fast laptop but still much slower than a desktop) - JRuby - Postgres - test dataset with about 30 rows in each table I'm wondering which of these factors are very different for you? Certainly machine speed has a huge impact.
