A question: Do you cold boot between installing the different programs? Can sometimes make the Windows registry update process cleaner.

I am happy with my Linux system... but cannot imagine NOT having Windows.

This is just great news. Wonderful... And just in time, with the comet around this week. You should be able to get some great sightings.
 
And TONIGHT is another meteor shower - the Eta Aquarids. This is a neat meteor shower because the meteors are from the remains of Halley's Comet. According to Sky & Telescope, the best viewing time will be around 2:30 AM local time (but the real peak is around 5:30 PM GMT, so too much daylight to interfere most likely).

Hint: I have found that the best meteor trails are found by looking away from the radiant (the point of origin for the meteor shower) instead of looking directly at the source.
