Hi Friends -
Have been receiving virus-related emails this morning since about 3AM Eastern time in the US. Some are mails with an attached virus and some are delivery notification mails, telling me that mails i sent were not deliverable. HOWEVER, i did not send any of the mails, myself, and my system has been scanned with updated antivirus definitions.
What the mails have in common is that the recipient's addresses are all in The Netherlands and for the delivery notification failure messages, there is a common IP address, also from The Netherlands.
I would encourage everyone here to please update their antivirus software and run a full scan as soon as possible, especially if your address book contains many email addresses for people in The Netherlands.
I use www.dslreports.com/whois for IP tracing and have found it generally reliable, although these things can be faked.
I am sure you are all aware of the assorted full-blown antivirus programs out there ( AVG, Norton, McAfeem fProt, etc).
There are two additional standalone virus detectors that people could try. Lobster has suggested a2 (a-squared), which you can google up. I tried it and found it useful.
Another program i use is Stinger, available from Network Associates. It was last updated on 7/5/04, so if your version is older you should update and run a new scan. It is available here:
Good luck everyone!
love and peace,
joyce
PS - Wonder what kind of soup is served here:
Maybe seaweed?
PPS - Sam, apologies for my heel-dragging about the piece for HarshaSatsangh Magazine... I lost your mail while sick and have just now found it again. I will try to get it out to you this weekend. Appreciate your patience. :)
