I admit it, i am a geek, especially when it comes to meteor showers
(no secrets there).

What do meteor showers have to do with time travel, you ask? There
are annual meteor showers that occur over the same period of days
every year, as the Earth passes through debris trails of old comets.

The Leonid Meteor Shower (which peaks tomorrow morning, November 17)
is the result of Earth encountering debris from Comet Tempel-Tuttle,
for example.

This year, the Earth will be passing through three distinct fields
from Tempel-Tuttle. The first trail we will experience is from the
year 1001, and then from year 1333, and finally from 1733.

I find that mind-boggling, the notion that we are seeing such
beautiful golden and green and red and blue and white hot meteors
that originated from a comet in 1001, that continue to exist out in
space in our lifetimes. It is a small way of being back in time and
witnessing part of the wonders of the heavens.

When i stand on the hill behind us at 3am watching them shoot across
the sky, i always feel a deepening connection to the universe and to
those others over the ages who gazed heavenward just like me. We are
not alone, not at all.

love and peace,
joyce

PPS - The cyclamen on your blog is beautiful, Lob... And a
coinkidink - they replaced the flowers in the lobby at work yesterday
with black Chinese pots containing cyclamen with luscious delicate
pink flowers. Spooky flower action at a distance.
