I installed a DVD player
(but could not upgrade the memory)

Good news on the DVD... What's up with the memory?

===========
   Incompatible. Recognised by the Bios but not windows.
   Watched a DVD on my monitor for the first time (The Matrix)
   Have you got Fedora on the system yet
   I want to dual boot with Debian

I installed a new used printer the other day - Lizzie's mentor gave her a Canon
Bubble Jet BJC2110. Nice little printer, easy to install from CD even on this
old Win 98. Only problems is the cartridge was depleted. I like that this model
has two side by side - 1 color and 1 b&w. The b&w is out BUT it prints so
nicely in green!

==============
        I very rarely print but have the
       Canon Bubble-Jet BJC-210 (Shadows old printer) very good
       Shadow is gonna try and wean his daughter onto Beatrix Linux
       (it has Gaim for MSN and other Instant Messaging - which would be the
main use)
       I am very happy to use CurlChat as an IM and will try and keep
       a channel open for longer periods as ts does

       IM is obviously the future - instant email
       texting on phones

       I used to only deal with companies who could fax
       now if they do not have e-mail (in Europe or US)
       should they be encouraged?
       I say upgrade or become extinct

      :-)

Printer cartridges seem to be extraordinarily overpriced here... Not sure how
it is where you are Lob or Desi in Europe? They run as high as $35.00 per
cartrige. I shopped around today and found that Kinko's house brand (generic)
that fits this printer is $1.99 for the b&w and $3.69 for the color. Wonderful
pricing. I have seen also DIY refill kits available. Has anyone tried those?

==========
  Printers are cheap because the money is made on the cartridges.
  It is a lucrative scam.
  Do not touch the refill kits - not worth the trouble and ink leaks - ruined
paper etc
  The prices you have found are fine

PS - A while ago i remember Lob or ts helping Jack with removing dust from a
scanner or photo of his lovely daughter.
Is anyone familiar with photo editing programs that are good for reconstruction
of old or damaged photos? In the past i have done this sort of thing at the
pixel level in MS Paint, but that is very laborious, and i am thinking there
must be software smart enough to detect and repair those little paper tears on
old prints.
For example, there are some scratch lines going through this shadow and light
pic of me that i'd like to fix.

think that was ts
I would start with GIMP but this might not be the best solution . . .
