We ate portobello mushroom for dinner the last two days. Here in
Northern California they are sold fresh in the grocery store at
reasonable prices. I think they grow around here. You can use them
in place of meat or to stretch or enhance meat. First we had ground
beef, mushroom & bean burritos. Start with a whole wheat tortilla,
heat some refried beans in the microwave & spread in on the
tortilla. Then cook ground beef with good sized chunks of
portobello mushrooms. Top with green sauce & fold one, two three at
the bottom. The mushrooms taste best if they aren't too small. Then
we had mushrooms with ground turkey & many cut up vegetables from the
garden. Turnips, squashes, carrots, potatoes, beets & sesame
seeds. Add sesame oil, venegar, soy sauce, corn starch & water.
Separately cook some wide rice sesame noodles. Put the noodles in a
bowl & top with the turkey vegetable mixture. Good stuff.

mushrooms, only much larger and meatier. Perhaps they are not native
to the UK or Europe. They are frequently served sauteed or grilled,
hence this recipe.
