Hello Group owners and moderators I am sorry I wanted to tell this to all of you three weeks back but I delayed due to my domestic reasons. Well better late than never so here is the bad news.
Google is aggressively deleting groups. They deleted my group 45 days back and they ignored my frantic appeals for restoration at their help forum. There is no reason as to why they are deleting groups but they are doing it. I know it for sure that they are deleting groups for the reasons only known to them. They are deleting groups selectively particularly ones which have no moderation which have under home business, employement, advertisement categories.Broadly speaking the groups which are prone to spam are more likely to be targeted by Google for deletion. Well we can not do anything to make them stop but I am just cautioning you so that you can backup your members list on your group. I did not have a recent back up of memebers list on my group and I lost 700 members out of 1500 members. Almost 80 groups of my mailing list of 500 groups disappeared from google groups within the last one month. And I can't guess how many more groups have been deleted beyong my knowledge. So, be cautious and backup your members list.
