It's not an arts school, but an ordinary private high school. I see no sign that it is in anyway unusual. http://www.seika-ghs.ed.jp/index.html As you'll see it's their 100th anniversary this year. There is range of courses for those aiming at national colleges, private colleges, junior colleges and technical schools, especially in welfare and nursing. http://www.seika-ghs.ed.jp/tokubetsu.html The hours spent on each subject (hours per week) are shown by the numbers on the book symbols. (1,2&3 indicate 1st, 2nd & 3rd year. Purple and green; Arts and Science courses respectively) Japanese, English Math, Science Social Studies (Geog.&Hist.), "Citizenship" Music is not mentioned! http://www.seika-ghs.ed.jp/tokubetsu/zu_jigen.gif The girls have to study pretty hard too. Here's the weekly schedule from their site: http://www.seika-ghs.ed.jp/tokubetsu/zu_life.jpg Monday to Friday 7:30 ~ 18:30 Saturday (review the week's work) 9:00~ 16:00 I wonder when they have time to practice. The year's schedule (http://www.seika-ghs.ed.jp/life.html) shows only one picture of the band so I guess it's not the schools highest priority. Hope this helps. If any one wants more detail or has specific questions drop me a line.
