I am so very sad to hear of Carlberg's passing. May he rest in peace. John Kowalchuk would tell some tales to me and "list lurker" Bob Losin about Carlberg's visit to Ontario to visit John. I met Carlberg and we shared a meal at the Kalamazoo symposium in 2001. He was an interesting man and very intelligent.

Although I never met him in person, we had several conversations by e-mail both on list and privately. Lawrence.
