I'm an amateur player in southern Oregon. The local concert
pianist/piano professor at the local university, Alexander Tutenov, went
to the Moscow Conservatory with a gentleman named Gleb Karpushkin, who
has played principal horn with the leading Moscow symphonies.
Because of this connection, we've been privileged to have two visits
from Gleb, and have experienced his master classes, solo recitals, and a
performance of the Gliere with the symphony in Corvallis. He's a
monster player in the classic Russian style, but his English is limited.
He's looking for more solo opportunities outside Russia, and I am
looking for advice about how to help him out. Anyone have names of US
agents used to working with European player? I have some of his CD's of
concerto performances with Moscow symphonies, plus his transcription of
the Franck violin "Sonata A-dur" for horn and piano, the Rossini
"Prelude, Theme and Variations", and the Schumann "Adagio and Allegro".
Quite an amazing listen. I would forward copies of this to anyone who
might be able to provide some connections.
Thanks for any help.
Linda Harris
