My first double was a 6D bought used in Cleveland. It had hand inscriptions
on the bell. A member of the Cleveland Symphony bought the horn from me.
He told me that the 6D preceded the 8D, and that the horn I had was one of
the originals. He had the valves successfully rebuilt and was using the
horn in chamber music. The horn had four rotor valves.
