You might consider the 1st Horn of the Fort Worth Symphony, a guy name
Hougton (son of Dennis Hougton well know repairman). He doesn't quite fit
your requirements but as a member of the FWSO they have done a lot of work
inspired by LatAm music. The current Director of the FWSO is from Chile, I
believe and has done consider works inspired my tradition music of his
homeland.

Hi Wendell,

Well GAIL WILLIAMS would be one of my choices, and I have just heard and
seen the most wonderful video of the Mahler 3rd with the Lucerne Festival
orchestra with principal horn ALESSIO ALLERGINI.  Incredible horn playing.
Another would be the retired principal of Los Angles Phil... I think he is
retired... WILLIAM LANE.  I don't think either of those last two players
have been part of the soloist before.

Just a thought.

HI,
I would like to hear from those of you in Asia and Latin America about who
you would like to see as a featured artist at the 2011 IHS Symposium in San
Francisco in 211. I'm looking for people who live or were born in those
countries.
This isn't a poll or a contest. I am just trying broaden my horizons a bit.
If you have links, great, if not just give me what info you have.
You can reply on the forum or to me privately if you wish. I am not gong to
post the results. You will have to wait for the overall announcement of
artists. This is NOT a contest.
The symposium is starting to shape up and it will be lots of fun and full of
great performances and presentations. I will have some info up on my web
site in a couple of weeks, but I'm not sure when advance registrations will
start- probably about October 1.
I do want to encourage those of you who are planning to come to register in
advance because you will save money and advance registrations help us with
cash flow.
Escape the heat next summer in SF!
Sincerely,
Wendell
