The other day I tried an old beat-up middle-school horn that a school
had issued to a kid--a Compensating Double Getsen Elkhorn --maybe
that was just a special horn , or someone was having a great day in
Wisconsin (?) (in, say 1969?) --but, hey, nice horn, great singing
high range. <<<

Tom,
Those horns are classics from Italy. Most of the time you can spot their
owners by the lack of thumb on their left hand. I have pinched myself on
them from time to time. I have no idea why they shut down operations, they
sold boatloads of them under different brands.
