Are we talking about valve lever springs?
The springs on my Conn Constellation 8D (1986) has helical (the shape
of a helix) springs.
I have a trumpet, dated before 1940, that has helical springs beneath
each piston valve.
youngjim80 to be 89 this month and sill playing my 8D, my
alphorn, a bugle, two hunting
horns, a cows horn, a longhorn steer's horn, a musical hose and
occasionally a balloon.
