Hello Raffael,

I´ll give you my very frank answer:

I´ll not talk about the Till much, but why the low F (concert) so short & just
"pfaaht" instead of "mucho sonore profondo" and not
that short, beside other things.

Isn´t the great ff passage from R.Strauss "Don Juan" in the key of "E" (Mi) ?
And isn´t that a real ff, con tutta forza, mui largo, con
tanta sonorita ? And the last high note not squeezed, but held with crescendo ?

Did you ever listen to Beethoven No.9 ? I doubt that, as you play the solo to
make everybody fall asleep ... and this solo is a very intimate solo (on
natural horn most notes would be muted !). The beginning does not sound at all,
the low notes getting out of control and are not held properly. The ritardando
at the scale is much over done.

Did you ever look at the title of Mendelssohn´s "Nocturno" ? It is a night
song, some kind of a Serenata, to be played as sweat as possible, not in mf as
you do. It is some kind of a love song, much tender, full of romantic, the
upbeat played like a viola with
up bow twice. And you played it in a tempo like a Marching band, but it MUST be
much slower at metronom 84 perhaps. And the up beat: tak - ta - tah. Why the
dotted eight note that short ?

the good thing is your intonation. Other bad thing is: too many weak notes,
starting with insecurity (grrrt).

By the way, the Mozart was also too uniform in sound, no expression at all.

How to better things ? Quite easy. Lay the horn down. Try to sing the excerpts.
Try to sing the Mozart. And try to give the pieces a soul. It does not need
much effort to change your playing to the better. You can better the things
surely, if you want to do it.

Bring the music in a higher position on the music stand (atril) , so not to
look down & close your throat by the wrong position. Try it, playing standing
upright, holding the horn upright. You will notice the new quality within very
few tries.

Good luck.
