(You probably recently received the first two short paragraphs of an e-mail I was sending to both lists. This is a result of a dictation program I've been using, which sometimes suddenly and inexplicably sends out the message long before it's ready to go. Let me try again This time I won't put in the addresses until the message is finished. At least some of the words I uttered into the microphone when the dictation program malfunctioned didn't go out :) )
I'm resending this announcement of David Thompson's appearance this week in Denton (Texas), because the original message which included an attachment, was too large to go through either of the two horn lists. Those of you in the Dallas - Fort Worth area may be interested in the appearance of David Thompson at the University of North Texas College of Music on this Thursday and Friday, January 20 and 21. Thursday evening will be a recital in Voertman Hall (the completely renovated former Concert Hall in the College of Music). Among the works he'll perform will be BOZZA: En Fôret and BRAHMS: Trio, Op. 40. He'll also play works by Messiaen and Hindemith. His appearance on Friday will be a master class from 1:00-3:00 in the Instrument Rehearsal Room of the Murchison Performing Arts Center. All of his appearances are free and open to the public. Parking on the UNT campus in the evening is free except for lots marked with an "A." David Thompson has been solo horn of the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra since 1989. Members of the Yahoo horn list will recognize him as the list founder and moderator.
