Hi folks, There is a new book about Denis Brain being released (hopefully) in May, just before the workshop, and we are going to have at least one of the authors present at the workshop. We are going to play well over one hour of his private collection of Brain tapes that have not been heard in this country at all, or any other country for that matter, for many many years. The tapes are from radio broadcasts in Europe and other sources. None of these tapes have been commercially released. I can safely say that 99.99% of the people at the workshop will have never heard them. There is also another video. We are also going to have John Ericson playing on some of the same model horns that Brain used in his career as well as Andrew Clark making some comments. As Brain was my own personal inspiration, I intend to make Wednesday at the workshop "Brain Day." I invite others to participate if they have stories or other things to add to this.
And by the way, the dorm rooms are going fast so make your reservations now. I am lifting the restriction that you have to have already paid your registration for the workshop, so you don't have to come up with that money as well. We need to fill these rooms now or we lose them. http://symposium.hornsociety.org/travel/accommodations Sincerely, Wendell Rider Host, IHS 43 _______________________________________________ post: [email protected] unsubscribe or set options at https://pegasus.memphis.edu/cgi-bin/mailman/options/horn/archive%40jab.org
