What do you mean it gets harder and harder to listen  to?
As you get older,  it gets easier and easier to listen to nothing in  
the higher frequencies.
I'm 89 and I listen to nothing out of my right ear. My left ear listens  
to nothing above C
above the staff.
Who would want to listen to nothing  anyway, it's the same old thing  
over and over and >......................
