One thing is not correct with Jasper Reeś research:

Leutgeb́s real name was Leitgeb, such in his papers, which I have in
copy as well as a list of his solo appearances
at the Vienna Burgtheater, the older theatre within the imperial
residence, where Leitgeb played horn concertos
as intermezzi music w.o. Haydns Concerto no.1 (but under the name of
Michael Haydn, due to Count Nikolaus Esterhazýs strong regulations;
Haydn & his wife were godparents of the Leitgeb́s first child). Leitgeb
himself was born in Vienna as son of Leopold Leigeb, a violinist. All
this is proof documented as well as Leitgeb́s last will. And he was not
poor in his later years, owning two houses, where he lived & rented out
the remaining flats & rooms, quite a reasonable income. I also have a
photo of his last house he lived in. The house was demolished not
earlier than after World War 2.

your humor. I just finished reading Jasper Rees, "A Devil to Play". I
enjoyed his humor, real world experience with his horn and his research
information. Jasper, are you currently reading Topics from the Horn
List?
