Current value on eBay for a trashed Elkhart 8D seems to be around 900 to 1200 dollars. These are horns with massive dents, ruined lacquer, acid blasted metal, bent leadpipes etc. etc. and they probably have very little hope of being playable without major dollar outlay because you know the valves have to leak horribly. I tend to think that's a pretty optimistic price for a junk horn, but at least that kind of gives you an idea of the bottom end of the market. BTW, that valve lever with the number scratched on it could be pretty easily replaced. All the Elkhart Conn (*full*) double and single horns had the same lever.
