Why didn't you say so ;)?

I don't know anything about arrangements of this overture.  Rossini is a
fine composer; his works are structurally competent, but not
compositionally brilliant.  He relies greatly on orchestration and
effects.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with this given the venue
for which he wrote.

But it does present issues when arranging his music.  A ww quintet does
not have equivalent orchestrational resources compared to full
orchestra, so any arranger is fighting a battle under disadvantage.  You
could download the score for the overture from imslp.org and give a try
at arrangeing it yourself.  You will likely learn a lot.

One suggestion -- if your flautist doubles piccolo, that in effect makes
available two extra instrument timbres: piccolo in high range, and that
marvelous piccolo low range.

If you attempt this, I'd be interested in seeing the result.
