Well Elaine, there was the horn symposium 1983 in Vienna, celebrating the Wiener Waldhorn Verein (not Weiner or Steigler or Frieberg, as I can read so often). Ferenc Tarjani, something bigger than me, not in height but ..... He had forgotten to pack tails for the concert in the Vienna Concert House with the Austrian Radio Symphony, playing the virtuoso concerto by Hidas, just before myself playing Brittens Serenade. as we were friends since many years, he asked me if he could wear my tails. Yes, I agreed, but when he came off the stage, I had to change were quickly to avoid letting the audience wait too long. Well, there was a longer hiatus than expected ......... Just few people knew why I "waited" that long before coming on stage to play the Britten. I did it on my single F-Viennese except the Prologue & Epilogue, which I did on a historical big coiled F-huntinghorn aged 200 years.
Nice memory. I received exciting comments from Bob Paxman & Richard Mereweather ..... my former last professor Josef Veleba disappeared after the performance. But that´s life. The concert has been recorded professionally & was not bad. The two high c entrances in pp ..... played 2/3 on the F-horn. Not too difficult, but keeping the tension on the high b-nat. until fading out ..... Thanks, Elaine, for pointing me to that event. ############################################################################################ Am 16.03.2011 um 18:36 schrieb Elaine Braun: > Hans - > > Tell us the story of changing clothes at the Vienna Horn Symposium concert - > do you remember?
