To Alon Reuven. Greetings. The baroque era in music is approximately from 1550
to 1750. So it starts with composers such as Monteverdi and includes composers
such as Johann Sebastian Bach and Georg Friedrich Handel and early works by
Franz Joseph Haydn. Baroque horn parts are played on hunting horn type
instruments(both large coiled and small coiled versions) and without the use of
the hand in the bell to alter pitch. The Dalley Horn Catalogue - CD ROM lists
over 2000 works of chamber music with three or more players (about half of
these are modern arrangements of Baroque compositions). In addition there are
over 300 Baroque compositions for horn solo with accompaniment of keyboard,
orchestra or ensemble (again it should be pointed out that many of these are
modern arrangements of Baroque era solos) However many of the original solos
and concertos are available in modern editions from publishers.
